Eligibility for free ESOL courses
If you are aged 16 to 19, you can access ESOL for free. You can also enrol on a course for free if you:
- Meet the residency eligibility requirements set out by the Education and Skills Funding Agency
- Are unemployed and receive a means-tested state benefit (Universal Credit (UC), Employment Support Allowance (ESA), Pension Credit)
- Are employed and earn less than £25,750 annually
- Are 19 years old or over at the start date of the course
You’ll need to show evidence of the above as part of the enrolment process.
If you’re not eligible for free courses, ask learning centres about fees or other options.
